Hey guys.. If you're reading this it means you are either going to help in making this game or just want to see what we are up to. The reason I created this forum is to try and pool everyone's knowledge on the gaming development aspect and possibly coordinate this effort from here more easily. I wish we could do this on Imgur but the messaging won't allow us to communicate with multiple users simultaneously..

So reply here and let me know what's up.
If you are one of the people who offered to make this game, please reply with a message stating what platform you are familiar with and what you would like to do.

I am in the process of creating the sprites...

I tried working this site: https://github.com/richardTowers/imgur-man by @youcannotignorethemoon but it seemed a bit too complicated for me.

If you are familiar with it though and think that you can help him check it out.

So what is the best platform? I've heard gamemaker, html5, c++, flash and java so far..

All my designs are in Adobe illustrator and I used After Effects to create the animation and .gif so maybe the easiest transition would be Flash?

What do you guys think?

I've made a low quality version of the game using AutoIt. I can probably make a version in python, however it'll take a while. If you can link me to a copy of the images of the Giraffe and Tard you used in the gif as well as other things I can improve my version of the game. I can also make a standalone .exe installer for anyone elses game if they want me to.

I can make the game in c# with xna game studio (so it will work in windows, win phone and xbox 360) and then port it over to linux & mac with mono/monogame

i've worked on small games before, including this small game for Ludum Dare 25 (can't link it for a week though..?)

I can code in python, c#, or java. I would recommend using c# with Unity: unity3d . com/* (I often call it an IDE on steroids. It's a whole game engine, quite useful). I'm really quite fine with any of those three languages.

It seems to me it is very hard to have everyone work on the same project since everyone has a different programming background. I could be wrong though!

rar that contains three .ai (adobe illustrator) files. One for the giraffe, one for tard and one for the ghost. Keep in mind that each file contains layers with instances of each character's animation. For example for the giraffe I have one layer with his mouth closed, another with his mouth half open and another one fully open. Also in the rar I have made .png files for all those animated instances for those that don't have illustrator.

What I have not created is the actual background for the game and the glowing "pills" that pacman eats. Whatever I haven't included in the rar file is basically stuff I created in After Effects. It was simple shapes. However if you guys want I can recreate them in other formats. Like the upvote/downvote for example..

Let me know.

Also do you guys have any ideas about the game? Should it be a straight forward pacman clone? Should tard be some sort of boss like thesmilinglunatic suggested?

To come back to the collaboration issue, I would like to hear what you guys think.. Is it just easier for each to work alone?

Also let me know what else you would like from me to try and design..

I think it should be a remix with tard being the boss vs the giraffe but other than that a pacman clone. I think we need like an IRC meeting for collaboration, to discuss a programming language, who will work on what, and what ports will be made for what OSes.

I can't download them and I probably can't open them since I don't have adobe illustrator. Rapidshare says that "Download permission denied by uploader."

Hello all!

I don't think it'll be the end of the world if we end up working on separate projects. The more the merrier.

github.com/richardTowers/imgur-man is my attempt. I'm writing it in JavaScript (actually TypeScript, but hey-ho) using fabric.js so it should work in any modern browser.

I'm not jealous about the code, it's unlicensed so feel free to have a look and take what you need. Contributions are welcome!

Re: it being complicated, basically all the non-library source lives in imgur-man.ts at the moment. I don't think it's all that complicated... yet.

I also included the sources, so those with linux/mac can try it also. You need Python 2.6/2.7 and Pygame to run it from the source.

It's written in lua for the LOVE2D engine, and the images aren't of the highest quality because I just took them straight from the gif

Also added some funky music 'cause it was too quiet

The enemies currently just move randomly, but I'm planning to use the proper pacman ghost behaviours Smile

Right, added the downvote powerups and normal ghosts, now another Tard spawns for every 5 levels you've completed

As follows;
Level 1: 0 Tards
Level 5: 1 Tard
Level 6: 1 Tard
Level 10: 2 Tards
Level 11: 2 Tards
etc

Tard cannot be downvoted, as in the gif

Thinking about the other ghost colours, but for now it's just the red one from the gif.

I'm gonna go away to my bed, perhaps some more updates tomorrow
